Police Arrest Supect in Recent Riverside Murder

Riverside residents can rest a bit easier now that police have made an arrest in the recent murder of Sarah Whitlock. The suspect, Kimothy Simmons, 17, was arrested on an unrelated charge of carjacking and was being questioned about a surveillance tape that showed him allegedly shoplifting a shirt with the word "police" on it. You can read more info about the case here.

While an arrest has been made in this case, we must still remain vigilant. Crime is a part of life these days and we MUST take measures to take back our neighborhood. If you see anything suspicious, please call the police at (904) 630-0500 or, if it is an emergency, call 911.

News media continue to mention that JSO is still looking for a 6' white male with blonde hair who was seen in the area around the time of Sarah's murder. In fact, the intial investigation focused on that description.

Of note is that a woman was raped in Coffee County, GA (Douglas, GA)--about 70 miles north of Jax--by a a 6' white male with blonde hair IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER!.

Is this newest assault a copy-cat, or is it possible that he had a role in the Jax crime?

Just a follow- on my previous post. The woman in Georgia has now been arrested for making false statements. Sounds like she took advantage of our local tragedy and made the story up. How sad. At least the GBI took action quickly.

Please note the slight typo with the Police phone number.
