The National Trust for Historic Preservation is launching a new site called @home that celebrates homes and the people who care for them. Because one of the best ways to save historic places is to celebrate them, this new online community is meant to be a place to share ideas, resources, and more. A lot of homeowners don’t think of themselves as preservationists. In some cases, they actively run from the idea of being a preservationist because they see historic preservation as something that keeps them from living the life they want, in the home they love, rather than as a tool to help them do just that.
The Trust is counting on @home as a way to begin to change that perception. The site is presently in its beta stage, and the Trust is actively looking for people like you to help them get the ball rolling by posting a profile of YOUR home on their new website. Whether you're restoring each detail of an 1850’s Victorian to its original glory or respectfully rehabbing a 1950’s modernist ranch to include another badly needed bathroom, @home wants to know about it.
Their goal is to have 100 profiles (preferably with at least one from every state!) up before they launch, and they promise that getting started @home is easy. Simply click the link below to create a profile for your pride and joy – post pictures, share your home’s history, and even find other home aficionados in your area.
