Five Points News Center to be replaced by a barbecue restaurant

The Five Points News Center, a 64-year old Jacksonville institution, closed its doors at the end of July.  A barbecue restaurant called Der-B-Q will soon replace it.  The word on the street is that barbecue will be cooked on a mobile smoker or grill and served from the old newsstand.  Since Der-B-Q is owned by and connected to Derby House, customers will be able to eat their meal on the neighboring outdoor deck.

I was corrected by the owner on First Fridays. The News Stand owns the Derby house.
