Believe it or not?
We think RAM is Florida's largest free, weekly, arts and entertainment event. We can add in food and farmer's market if we need too. If you know of one bigger, in Florida, or the south, let us know.

RAM innovator Leading Invention Contest!

A Special Treat at RAM this weekend!

As if the Riverside Arts Market wasn't special enough, this weekend you are in for a very special treat. The acclaimed NYC-based vocalist Morley, in town to perform for a sold-out private event, will also play a free public concert on the main stage at 11am on Saturday, March 20th. She will be accompanied onstage by the highly regarded "Global Soul" guitarist/vocalist Tomas Doncker. This will be your only opportunity to see and hear this amazing artist before she flies back to NYC that afternoon to continue working on her next record. Just so everyone knows, Morley is NOT on tour. She flew down from NYC specifically to play for us. Morley has recently played at New York City's Blue Note and Lincoln Center and has an upcoming show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music! A special thanks to Atypical Arts for making this happen!

RAM returns this weekend!

Don't miss the grand re-opening this Saturday! And don't forget the hours go back the regular 10am-4pm. FRAM kept you company through the cold months but now RAM is back and so are all the great artists, food and performers. To celebrate what is more fun than a ribbon cutting and a parade? Led by Councilman Michael Corrigan and the Raines High School Marching Vikings Band and joined by city officials and dignitaries, jugglers, clowns, River Walk 2RAM walkers, RAM Volunteers, decorated dogs, belly dancers, street performers, Jaguar players, and anyone who loves RAM. The parade starts at 9:30am. Then later from 1-3:30pm, The Mike Shackleford takes the main stage but the rest of the performers will be keeping you entertained all day. RAM - the first season! And beyond…

There is a great article over at jacksonville.com about the Riverside Arts Market as we wrap up the first season and look forward to the new! If you haven't heard, RAM is on a hiatus though the cold part of the year. It will allow the artists and craftspeople some time to replenish their offerings. In the meantime, FRAM makes it's debut this weekend. This is the Farmers’ Market at RAM. It will be open every Saturday in January and February from 9am to noon. We wouldn't wat to deprive you of your healthy living! Visit the RAM site often to get all the details.

A Big Weekend for RAP! And RAM!

LUMINARIA

Riverside Avondale Preservation’s "Luminaria" weekend includes the last day of the Riverside Arts Market (Saturday, Dec 19), bike tours Saturday morning and Sunday evening, historic church tours, carolling, $1 trolley tours to see the Luminaria on Sunday evening, and Santa of course. See the “Luminaria schedule” for complete information. There are all kinds of parties going on this weekend both public and private. This year Harpoon Louie's is getting in on the action with FREE hot cider, drink specials from Bold CIty Brewery and live music. And you can catch the trolley Sunday so you won't have to worry about driving!

LUMINARIA NEIGHBORHOOD PARTY
RAP and RAM are hosting a neighborhood party on Saturday night at RAM, with our food vendors, live band, video presentation, free wine tasting, beer and wine bars, and more. 6:30pm to 10pm. Free admission, free parking. It's at RAM under the bridge!

RIVERSIDE ARTS MARKET – Last Day of the Year!
Although RAM will close for the winter on Dec. 19th, RAM's Farmer's Market (FRAM) will still be open every Saturday in January and February. Here's the link to our Artist of the Week, gourmet baker Jon-Claude. He is one of our wonderful vendors at the Market. Jon-Claude is not only a Culinary Institute of America graduate, he was named Club Med's best baker world wide two years in a row based on customer surveys. As usual we have great music. The Mike Shackleford Band is our headliner and will be playing from 1-3:30pm. Also up are Steve Piscitelli, Crashby, Lee Webster and too many to mention! And we have more than just art, food and music! Check out the lineup at RAM's site.

RAM - Saturday, November 7 - 10am-4pm

THIS WEEK
We'll be helping the City celebrate the Week of Valor this weekend with an Acrobatic Circus honoring our local police, fire and rescue heros.

One of the stars of the show will be a 1926 antique LaFrance Hook and Ladder antique fire engine on display. It will be joined by the city's largest modern fire truck, a big red battle station in which kids will enjoy getting to sit in the rear cab. At the nearby riverfront, the Jacksonville Fire Department's impressive fire boat, "Marine One," will be on display for viewers and will perform demonstrations of its high firing water cannons.

Veteran firemen will be on the scene to discuss the history of firefighting in Jacksonville, and there will be a book signing for the Jacksonville Historical Society's award-winning book, The Great Fire of 1901. There will also be displays of historic fire-related memorabilia from the Jacksonville Fire Museum and an extensive showcase of antique uniforms, equipment, badges and historical pieces from our local police.

We have a ton going on this weekend! Magician tournaments. World class entertainment in Rocco the Acrobat (gravity-defying stunts of Chinese pole balancing, acrobatics, juggling, a unicycle and more) The Leroy Sisters (mutant clowns, dancing, singing & comedy) and The Rick, Rocket and Daisy Show (circus dogs, unicycles and acrobatics). Oh yes, there's more. The Fabulous Clown Family, balloon artists, belly dancers, and eight different musical groups performing in the market. This week's headline musical act on RAM's River Stage will be acclaimed songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Kristi Stice. And David Ferman, the 16-year-old national champion juggler is back. new farms, returning farms and friends, new artists, new food vendors, and an all around great time. And the Art League will be offering classes for $20.

As if RAM isn't batty enough, our Halloween party should kick off this wild weekend. Vendors will have treats for the kiddies who come dressed for frights! And your pets may also find a few treats if they don their best costumes. And don't forget your costume either as we are having a costume contest! We are certain to see plenty of Gators and Dawgs. We will have our biggest line-up of street performers ever, ten musical groups and zombies dancing on the stage. And if they aren't scary enough you should stop by and get your flu shot.

Saturday, October 17 at RAM

THIS WEEK
The weather this weekend should finally feel like fall. It should be a great day to take a walk along the river. Vikings will descend upon RAM this weekend to celebrate Viking Week. We'll have a 10th century replica fjord utility boat on display. The Sons of Norway will also be there. Some will be dressed in full Viking regalia, while others will dressed in Bunads (native Norwegian dress). You'll be able to purchase Nordic delights including jars of lingonberries, Norwegian chocolate bars and lefse. And what kind of market would we be if we didn't have plastic Viking helmets so everyone can get in on the act?

The Jaguars are back again. They are home against the Rams this weekend and need everyone's support. There is also the regular assortment of amazing artisans and talented performers to entertain.

COMING UP
October 31 is Halloween and we are encouraging everyone to come in costume. We will be having a contest with multiple categories for best costumes. Don't forget about your four-legged friends! THIS WEEK
The best arts market of all time, ever™ is back this weekend with a major promotion. The Toyota Farm to Table Tour will be an amazing day for all of us. Some of the city's top chefs will be showcasing their culinary art utilizing our RAM farmers. Urban Jacksonville interviews one of the chefs lists the chefs in recent posts. RAM was selected as one of the few markets in the country to be a part of this promotion and we are super proud. There is so much to see as well as lots of free (sample sized) eats from these superb restaurants: Chew, Uptown Market, Eleven South, Taverna, Pastiche, Richard Nunn, Biscottis, Burrito Gallery, Orsay, Cafe Du Marche, Sweet Pete, and Bistro AIX.
 
Checking out the chef's and their farms, taking a Hybrid (Prius or Highlander) test drive, and earning a free herb start will be a lot of fun Saturday, but it is not nearly all you can do!

In addition to all the great art, food and crafts, be sure to stay and enjoy Dr. Wayne Wood's always phenomenal 17 ring circus of entertainment (including Dot Wilder and world record magicians and jugglers!), the Jacksonville University Lacrosse Teams and the Jaguars will be selling tickets.  And this is the last weekend for Project Backpack. Project Backpack will be back at the Market this week collecting backpacks and gift cards for Jacksonville's foster kids. Fresh off last week's win, the Jacksonville Jaguars will at the Market selling tickets and will have a drawing for a signed item for anyone that purchases tix at the Jaguars table. Magnolia Farms has gone PUMPKIN CRAZY. Be sure to check out the Jacksonville Weavers Guild at booth 011 (by the office)! I bet weaving by the river would be very therapeutic. Lets see! This Weekend at RAM

This weekend the Riverside Arts Market celebrates National Dog Day by transforming into the Riverside Arf Barket. Visitors are encouraged to bring leashed, friendly dogs to enjoy their special doggie day. RAM will be hosting a free parade for costumed canines with prizes given in several categories.

In addition to our Dog Day Celebration, the Riverside Arts Market proudly features 160 artists who display and sell their works each Saturday. They represent a wide array of artwork, from oil paintings and sculpture to jewelry and hand-made gifts. Other popular components of RAM include a diverse fresh produce section along our Farmer's Row. Many visitors come every week to select from locally grown fruit and vegetables. Muscadine grapes, peaches, tomatoes, and goat cheese have been popular in recent weeks. There are also food vendors who sell ready-to-eat meals from shrimp creole to barbeque to beignets, which can be enjoyed along the riverfront while listening to free music.

Rounding out the festival atmosphere is an ever-changing troupe of street performers, who are spread throughout the market and are likely to pop up anywhere with an impromptu musical performance or a magic act. RAM's weekly live entertainment on the River Stage is a major attraction for the thousands of visitors who come each Saturday. This week RAM is featuring The John Carver Band, a folk rock, acoustic group that takes stage at 12:30 pm.

An added event this weekend is jax REcycle where you can bring your old unwanted or broken bikes to The Bike Valet this Saturday. The refurbished bikes are then given to residents of Community Connections and Sulzbacher Center where they will help those trying to get back on their feet and in need of transportation. It's a win-win. Someone gets much needed transportation and you get to clean out your garage.

With over one football field's area of covered space beneath the bridge, the all-weather market allows artists to exhibit without worry of rain or hot sun. The Riverside Arts Market is free and has over 1,000 free nearby parking spaces. RAM is open to the public from 10AM to 4PM.

This Weekend at RAM

Summer's in full swing and we've got some pretty cool stuff (again) at RAM this weekend. Jacksonville's very own River City Band Satin Swing Ensemble jazzes things up on the River Stage starting at 10:30. Then at 1:30 we're proud to have Warren Floyd rock the house. Floyd has played with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and shared the stage with a long list of rock royalty--from The Marshall Tucker Band to Bonnie Raitt to the Dixie Chicks. When you're walking around the market, look out for yoga demos by Tara Rawson, local honey, fresh tomatoes, belly dancers, orchids, ripe peaches, goat cheese, olive bread and chocolate croissants, beignets, shaved ice and lots of cool art to inspire and enjoy. Take a pedicab ride to Five Points, visit the Cummer or stroll the Riverwalk when you're done. It is sure to be another great Saturday.

Matt McLaughlin takes stage at 11AM, and then Players by the Sea presents a special excerpt from the musical 'Hair' at 11:30.
