
It looks like Fire Station No. 5 may be close to drawing its last breath. Councilman Jones has been working with John Stokes, a commercial developer from Fernandina Beach, on a plan that’s turned into one last rescue attempt for the old firehouse. The Jacksonville Historic Society has the old station on their list of "Jacksonville's Most Endangered Historic Buildings". If the plan doesn't work Fidelity National Financial will tear it down and Jacksonville will lose one of the last of the original grand mansions that lined Riverside Avenue. >> Read the Florida Times-Union artcle for the complete story.
